Product Description |
| A great pattern for stylish everyday dining, Bedford flatware from Wallace has an urban composure that comes from simple lines and a lustrous finish. Crafted from 18/10 stainless steel--which is 18 percent nickel for luster and 10 percent chrome for corrosion-resistance--the pattern features broad linear handles with square ends. The handles are attractively planed with a subtle transition to a slender shaft. Working ends in the Bedford design are elongated and generous, while knife handles are flat. The line is transitional in size, halfway between traditional dinner proportions and European measurements. Service for eight diners, this 53-piece Bedford set includes eight place settings, each with two salad forks, a dinner fork, a dinner knife, a dinner spoon, and a teaspoon. The accompanying serving set includes a tablespoon, a pierced tablespoon, a cold meat fork, a sugar spoon, and a butter knife. Additional serving pieces are also available, and the pattern is safe in the dishwasher for easy cleanup. --Emily Bedard What's in the Box 8 place settings, 5 serving pieces. Each place setting consists of: dinner fork; 2 salad forks; soup spoon; knife; teaspoon. Service set consists of: butter knife; sugar spoon; serving fork; pierced serving spoon; serving spoon. 53 pieces total. |

| This cutlery set arrived very quickly, and was packaged very well. There were 3 teaspoons which seem to have a very slight uneven bend to the right side of the spoon but its unnoticable at a normal distance ( I had to study them closely to notice) . I decided that I am not going to send them back for that. Other than that the ends of the tines of the forks are a tiny bit sharp , but so are all the new cutlery these days. I imagine they get softer edges with use. The size is close to what I was looking for. I did NOT want to buy " continental " size, becuase its just too big for what I am used to , I am a 5'2" person, and I have somewhat small hands. (I once had a "continental" sized cutlery set, but it was so oversized that we had to use the teaspoons as cereal spoons! ). This set is closer to the older "european" size . I like the bases of the cutlery to be a bit squared off- it feels nicer than with pointed bases, and with this set I like the fact that the bases are not too thick, so they stack nicely. An extra 8 salad forks came with the set, but I think that it would be a lot better to have an extra 4 cereal spoons and and extra 4 teaspoons intead! The slightly dull sheen is very nice also. There were two very tiny "rust" colored dots on two of the pieces, and i dont know what they really are, and hopefully they will fade off. They are very small anyway. I will update later if I have an problems with this cutlery set. PS There is stamped on the back of each and every piece the words "Wallace", "18/8" , and the work "China", and I don't really care for that. Not becuase I dont like that it says China, but I prefer it said nothing. I just dont think a whole bunch of words should be stamped across the back of the business end of each fork/spoon etc. It might be nicer if they have to put a stamp, that it be more discreet, such as along the backside of the handle like most older cutlery used to be.. Anyway I am overall pretty happy with the look, feel and function of this cutlery set! |
NICE SET!
